WEIRD SKIN PROJECT _scar 202405

2024 | various yarn, ribbon, rope | 87”x72”

scar series : I weave abstract shapes directly onto the wall. Using a flat white gallery wall as a loom and I drilled nails on the wall. I created bumpy, fluffy textures on the flat surface. Once the weaving was complete, I removed the entire woven texture from the wall. Finally, the wall became clean and pristine as at first. Viewing how these marks affect skin texture informs the way I create weaving and manipulate texture in my pieces. This expresses not only my complicated emotions toward my vulnerability, but also a visual metaphor of overcoming negative emotions.
